One of the things that gets me excited about photography is teaching and helping others become comfortable behind their cameras. In partnership with the Michigan REI stores, I’ve been able to introduce a free Travel Photography Basics class and an Intro to Outdoor Photography workshop.
Intro to Outdoor Photography: Composition and Technique
In this photography class we get to go out to Maybury State Park, one of my favorite areas in southeast Michigan, and practice taking photos. Small groups of only 5-8 people means you’ll get more one-on-one hands on attention. Because we have smaller groups, each class is going to be unique and tailored to your own needs.
We’ll start with a quick rundown of your camera settings and how to change them and then we’ll go for a short hike where we practice changing them and composing awesome shots. By the end of this photography class, you’ll be more confident using your camera to control shutter speed, aperture, and ISO, see photographically, and compose a dynamic, meaningful photo.
Audience: Beginner
Location: Maybury State Park (Beck Rd. entrance)
Cost: $65 for REI members, $85 for non-members
